Rules:
This competition is for Collegiate Shag and Balboa Dancers.
All rounds will be sequential
Every round is Battle Spotlights and Elimination
All rounds will be judged by head instructors Sarah Stembridge, Jeremy Otth, Annabel Quisao, Bobby White, and Johnny Ochoa except the second round, which will be judged by 1 shag instructor and 1 balboa instructor.
First round will be a Mix and Match based on Divisions (Collegiate Shag vs Balboa), partners will be chosen randomly, Battle Spotlights: 16/8s, 12/8s or 8/8 first run, 12/8s or 8/8s second run (Depending On Song), followed by an all skate to the remainder of the song. Judges will vote to move one couple into the semi-finals and the other couple will get into the second opportunity round.
Second round will be second opportunity battle. This round will be between the competitors who did not make it to the semi-finals. Competitors will be randomly assorted into couples. Each couple will get a spotlight. The winning couple of the battle will move onto the semi-finals of the Invitational Mix and Match.
Spotlights: 16/8s, 12/8s, or 8/8s run, followed by an all skate to the remainder of the song. Judges will vote to move one couple onto the semi-finals.
Third Round or Semi-Finals will be a mix and match based on remaining dancers from the first and second round.
Battle Spotlights: 16/8s first run, 8/8s second run, followed by an all skate to the remainder of the song, Judges will vote to move two couples into the Final round.
Final round will be another mix and match based on remaining partners.
Battle Spotlights: first run 16/8, second run 8/8, followed by an all skate to the remainder of the song.

RULES:
Couples will dance Collegiate Shag, Balboa, or a combination thereof (ShagBoa). The song will start around 190 bpm and will continue to increase in tempo until only one couple is left DANCING.
Judges will tap you out in case you or your partner are losing rhythm, or dancing lazy!
It’s free to compete, you do not have to sign up. We want everybody to join in on all the fun and do this competition!

Balboa Elimination Mix and Match competition Prelims
Partners selected randomly from the Tri-Rhythm Cup.
Three song heats. Song length roughly 1 minute 30 seconds up to 2 minutes. Tempos will range from 200 bpm up to 240 bpm
8 couples will be chosen for finals
Balboa Elimination Mix and Match competition Finals
The Balboa Elimination Mix and Match will be a 3 round elimination process.
Round 1
8 couples will be randomly paired using the Tri-Rhythm Cup for selection, each couple will go head to head with another couple in a elimination process that will be determined by a comity of judges. This will be repeated each time until only 4 couples remain.
Battle Spotlights: 16/8s first run, 8/8s second run, followed by an all skate. Judges will vote immediately following each battle, determining which couple will move onto Semi-Finals.
Round 2 (Semi-Finals)
4 couples will be randomly paired using the Tri-Rhythm Cup for selection, each couple will once again battle head to head in another elimination process that will be determined by a comity of judges until 2 couples remain.
Battle Spotlights: 16/8s first run, 8/8s second run, followed by an all skate. Judges will vote immediately following each battle, determining which couple will move onto Finals.
Round 3 (Finals)
The 2 remaining couples will be randomly paired using the Tri-Rhythm Cup for selection, each couple will battle head to head one final time through an elimination process determined by a comity of judges.
Battle Spotlights: 16/8s first run, 8/8s second run, followed by an all skate. Judges will vote to determine the winner.
Song bpm will range from 220 bpm in round 1, up to 240 bpm in Final round
